Keep A Strong Mind - Let's HIIT!

So I was talking about HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) in the previous post. Now you might be wondering why we have to put ourselves through the wringer with all the super intense exercises? The answer - cuz it's fun?

Now seriously, the purposes with doing HIIT is to stress our aerobic capacity (VO2 max) by stimulating the mitochondria in muscles. HIIT also triggers the release of HGH (Human Growth Hormones), therefore fire up your metabolism.

The results? You burn more fat after HIIT; your cardiovacular fitness improves; you will get leaner; you delay aging (I mentioned the release of HGH, right?); the workout takes only 20 minutes, perfect if you're in a time crunch.

Warm up - Dynamic stretching + 5 min walk/ jog/ bike at easy pace
Interval - 400m sprint at top speed (target HR95-100%) + 200m recovery (in forms of jogging/ brisk walking. 4-6 repeats
Cool down - 5 min walk + stretch

Sure you can do more if you're fitter but watch the clock, do more than 20 minutes will be too physically taxing. Try to do it once or twice a week (depending on your training goals and fitness level), you should start to reap the benefits in 3-4 weeks.

Keep a strong mind. Let's HIIT!

HIIT vs Gym Etiquette

Gym etiquette -
1. Put equipment back to where they belong after use. (checked)
2. Don't throw weight, i.e. dumbbells on the floor. (checked)
3. For hygenic reason, please wipe equipement after use. (checked)
4. Be nice to your trainer and appreciate her/ his effort with making you sweat. (checked, I made this up BTW)
and the list goes on...

When doing HIIT (high-intensity interval training) -
1. Freakin' smash the weight on the floor after completing one set. (checked)
2. Sweating all over the weight and gym floor, wiping but only sweat all over again so don't bothered. (checked)
3. Swearing, screaming, yelling, calling names when pushing the last few reps. (checked)
4. Hating your trainer for coming up such a torturous killing HIIT workouts. (checked)

For more more information about HIIT training, please check back in a few days. Have a sweet weekend.
